A 5-year-old girl has just celebrated what could be sadly her last birthday.
Lila May Schow of Hood River, Oregon, had been diagnosed in September of 2012 with stage four neuroblastoma cancer and given only a few months to live.
“We don’t know how much time we have left,” her father, Ryan Schow, told KATU News. “And we have put up one hell of a fight. We just want to give her everything she deserves.”
Which is exactly what they did.
Word got out of this beautiful girls story and people from around the world rallied to make her birthday special. Converting a empty room into a princess paradise with a throne, a red carpet, hundreds of balloons and an extravagant castle decor too match.
But it turned into much more than just a birthday celebration.
Lila’s parent’s decided to give their little princess the experience of her prom and wedding she was now unlikely to have herself.
“So we don’t know if we’re going to get to birthday number six. So we want to make number five basically, you know, her wedding, her prom, her prince charming, everything that she won’t get that we all take for granted,” Lila’s mother Heidi Hall told KRON 4 News.
“At the end of the night Lila’s dad plans to ask her to marry him — slip a ring on her finger so she’ll know what that feels like,” Joe English reported live for KATU News.
The day turned out to be a beautiful celebration with guests dressing up as disney princesses to set the mood and give Lila the experience of a lifetime.
